In the Department of Respiratory Surgery, diagnosis and surgical treatment of lung cancer, pneumothorax, mediastinal tumor, pleural mesothelioma, metastatic lung tumor, chronic pyothorax etc. are provided.
Surgery for such as spontaneous pneumothorax, pulmonary benign tumor, mediastinal tumor and metastatic lung tumor is almost operated with thoracoscopic surgery, and for primary lung cancer, this technique is also introduced and the number of procedure is on an increasing trend year by year.
On the other hand, we perform various expansion operations: excision en bloc using prosthetic grafts for advanced primary lung cancer and mediastinal tumor, reconstruction of the chest wall by prosthesis after bronchogenesis / angioplasty and resection of chest wall meridian, and furthermore total pneumonectomy for pleural mesothelioma. Extended dissection is also performed for lymph node metastasis of primary lung cancer.
